When the Stars Line Up

“Success doesn’t just happen because someone’s stars line up. Success, both in business and personally, is something that’s consciously created. It’s the guaranteed result of a deliberate series of acts that anyone can perform.” ~ Robin Sharma (from The Leader Who Had No Title)

You’ve heard this before. “Everything will be great as soon as my stars line up.” This type of thinking is contrary to the way a successful person lives their life. A successful person knows the stars are already lined up in their favor and it’s up to them to connect the dots (sort of speak).

I’m a firm believer the “when the stars line up” way of thinking are for those who hope a change will happen and they will suddenly get all that they asked for.

more Life is not about getting from point A to point B. It’s the journey. You’ve probably heard that before. But I want to challenge you to not dismiss that. Think for one moment about your life. Perhaps you’re married to your dream spouse or you have beautiful children or how you have the dream job. Whatever it is for you, the “stars didn’t line up for you” and WHAM! you have what you asked for.

Everyday you were on a journey to get you to that dream job, having those great children or a beautiful spouse who completes you. This journey was most likely filled with frustration mixed in with good times. But if you were to look at where you came from to where you are now, you will be amazed on how magical it all happened.

Life is a blessing and yes we do often look forward to “getting there” but only to find that once we are there, all of that suspense is suddenly gone – poof,  disappeared. And, “being there” makes you feel like you are missing something.

For most it’s like a huge let-down. They say, “If I knew this is what I was going to see then maybe I wouldn’t have done this differently or enjoyed it more.” Or, “Wow, it’s over already.”

So what can you do?

Well, since you already know the importance of setting a goal,  this time around you Enjoy the Journey. But once you’ve reached your goal you’re right back to where you were once before – “Wow, it’s over already.”

It’s this very time to reflect on the journey you were on and then set the next goal. You see, a successful life is about momentum. It’s about continuously being in motion moving forward to helping other people reach their goals and yours too. When you stay at it, or as Walt Disney once said, “Keep moving forward…” you never have time to worry about getting there, being stuck, being fearful or procrastinate. All you will be focusing in on is the good time you are having and the difference you are making.

Not to mention this way of thinking and constant action will get you away from the “When the stars line up” mentality.

“The most important thing you can do to achieve your goals is to make sure that as soon as you set them, you immediately begin to create momentum. The most important rules that I ever adopted to help me in achieving my goals were those I learned from a very successful man who taught me to first write down the goal, and then to never leave the site of setting a goal without first taking some form of positive action toward its attainment.” ~ Anthony Robbins

When I think of my current goals, I know if don’t keep at then I might as well kiss all of my dreams good bye. And because that’s the last thing I want to happen, my only option to stay at it by reminding myself why I am on this journey and for whom – People just like YOU!

Give it a try and you will be pleasantly pleased.

      Jason,

Thanks for the great comment. As you know, it’s the small stuff that is often overlooked or not appreciated but it’s those small things that are making difference. I once heard, “How do you make a difference? With One small act of random kindness.” And, I believe that is exactly what we are doing here. This is what I do with my business, my team, my family, you name it. The stars aren’t lining up, they are already lined up I’m just connecting the dots.

This is the best journey the two of us have been on. (Yes, it’s been hard but it has also been well worth it.) And, I look forward to many people experiencing their breakthrough just like we have (and we still continue to have).

      Your brother,
      Jerome
